Every artist has their own mantra:
for Bogdan, it’s always been “shoot what other’s don’t see.” Whether that’s capturing an unexpected view of a well- known location, a unique look into country’s culture or simply a trip down memory lane; he aims to photograph unexpected moments and scenes.
Bogdan Janczura grew up in Poland and has been traveling the world capturing photos since the 1960s with his Zenit 35 mm camera. He fell in love with the camera as it gave him the opportunity to not just see the world differently, but to get access to it. He fondly remembers how wearing two cameras around his neck plus a touch of confidence would get him an all-access pass to every sold out show in Poland. He’d simply walk up
to the usher and they’d immediately let him in.
Photography is his permission to see the world.
Bogdan went on to get his Masters Degree at WSP University in Mechanical Engineering. Soon thereafter he moved to Chicago, bringing his passion for photography with him.
In Chicago, an engineering firm that kept him busy for nearly 40 years, all the while keeping his love for photography alive. Since the 1960s Bogdan has traveled to more than 20 countries capturing a wide range of cultures, lifestyles and moments, many of which he’s displayed and sold at art exhibits across the Midwest.
