Artist Statement

Elena Pach (B. 1971, Kyiv, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian artist residing and working in Chicago. She depicts the essence of life through a semblance of portraiture, landscape and still life. In a digital era, the artist returns to a traditional mode of expression to deal with a contemporary issue; the natural world and the value it holds within modern societies.
She paints and draws the viewer with peculiar scenes where compositions have been stripped from any human life; emphasizing the disconnection in an otherwise connected world. Elena is fascinated by nature abilities to adapt and evolve, making animals and plants her heroes. In a world order where a symbiotic exchange with nature is secondary, her work comments on the Anthropocene and the warped relationship between humans and other living beings.
