Bio

The Brazilian Impressionist artist, who turned art therapy as a management of her own mental health.
Born with a condition that allowed her to travel freely in the imaginary world, in which helped to balance her delicate mental health due to a troubled childhood.
The atypical mind was never an obstacle for the artist to achieve her professional goals in life.
Sonia has been creating art since she was 16 and for more than 10 years has been returning her time to paint fine art.
Much of the inspiration of her works comes from the childhood memories, places she visited, and an immigrant woman in London who welcomed her.

Artist Statement

I have been ignoring all the danger signs, all the warnings saying DO NOT ENTER.
I went back many ways. During long roads, just enjoying the scenery, I skirted obvious places.
For me the important thing is not the finish line, but the all journey.
My story is not different from so many immigrants who left their parents and country. People with courage, don't give in to conformism, the reflection of their own adventures, in the dancing lines, in the hot colours of Brazil, and where the light predominates at night.. a mixture of power with ingenuity.
My journey started in Portugal, now in London, I have been painting what I see and it fascinates me…
My works are popular and accessible, because I believe that art should not be elitist.
The works have already been exhibited in renowned and international galleries such as KERART in Portugal and the great PARLLAX fair, which has been held in various parts of the world, and also in unusual places such as cafes and parks, because I believe that everyone should have something that makes them feel unique. Therefore, I will continue my journey being faithful to what I believe in the city, although my works can change their theme, traits and colours... from a dancing abstract to a simple flower.. where the essence is immutable.
